6)Dear Prospective Adopter(s): While deciding to adopt is a joyous time, beginning the adoption process can be stressful and frightening. We know from personal experience that it is difficult to wait patiently for the adoption process to occur. You just want to bring your child home! It is important to realize that adoption time frames vary depending on various programs, country, and agency. When we were searching for an agency all we wanted to know was how much and how long. I am sure many people are in the same boat. Cost varies, and so does time. It took us forever (8 months) to get paperwork done, yet others can do it in just a few weeks. We started from zero and just did the best we could. In January of 2004 we submitted our dossier and were matched with a baby boy in May. By the end of that month I was off to Russia. By July both my husband and I were off to pick up our wonderful 9 month old son. There are no two cases, we would assume, that are alike. Everyone travels their own road here, and everyone leaves with a different story. Our story is quite simple. We wanted to adopt a baby; we researched over 100 agencies and chose Life Adoption. After talking with over fifteen other couples, all adopting from the same orphanage, at the same time we were adopting, but with different agencies as ours, we were positive we had the best agency we possibly could have. The best advice we could ever give to a couple wishing to adopt consists of three parts, one: It is the best thing you will ever do, two: Everyone gets frustrated and scared at some point in their process, and that is normal, just stick it out, and three: Life Adoption is one of the best.
